Sebring MX seats/covers

Hi all,

I'm the proud owner of a Sebring MX. My father built the car in 1999.

The driver's seat cover has separated on the edge and the local upholstery shop says they can't repair it. They want a fortune to replace it.

Does anyone know where I can buy replacements?

If the seats are the original ones that came with the kit, the vinyl that covers them isn't of the best quality and has probably sun-burnt over time. My guess is that the upholstery shop doesn't want to repair them because any new stitches they make will have a high chance of tearing through the material, making for a short lasting repair. CR went out of business a long time ago so new seat covers are not available.

Your options are to either find an upholstery shop that can re-upholster the seats for a reasonable price, or swap the seats for some different ones entirely. Quite a few forum members have fit 1st or 2nd generation Mazda MX5/Miata seats in their cars (bear in mind this may require some modification to the seat rails).

I've been putting off taking care of the same issue in my car if that's any consolation

I was hoping the seats were maybe a replica of another car's seats, like an MG TC or something similar, and that maybe Moss Motors or some shop like Moss Motors might have covers available.

and much safer than any low-back seat.

Yeah, no. Not just color, but look at the direction of the stitching. Only have the one.

If that color works, you can check the price with him.

What brand/style are those seats rob?

You can readily buy online replica Shelby/AC Cobra bucket seats that have a very similar look to Austin Healey seats and are more period correct looking than modern seats such as the Miata.
