Is the gas cap a kit part or a sourced part?

Sourced part for sure. I believe it's from an old fashioned VW bug but I could be wrong. If you're replacing it anyways and you've got a bit of coin, you might want to consider these aston martin le-mans style fuel fillers. I eventually want to put one on mine. Probably will need a bit of fitting work though.

try speedway motors. they have 2 different sizes of the le-mans stile cap for less money

Those will not pass safety inspection in my province as they can flip open on a roll over.
