Classified Ads Trial Run
Good evening everyone,
I have enabled the new classified ads function for a trial run. You can access it by going into the regular classifieds section, in which it will appear in a third sub-heading (under the known listings one).
Another separate option is the enabling of the classified ads widget, which can be seen on the far right of the forum =========>
Under the gallery widget. This new widget would relay the classified ads to the front page to help their exposure.
As part of this test I would invite all of you to go try out the new ads section to see how it works. Browse through it and post up your own dummy ads so you can get a feel for it. In a few weeks i'll hold a poll to decide: 1) whether we keep this new classifieds format 2) whether we use the widget. If we vote to keep it I will remove the old classified section.
So far, from what I have seen
Pros: great interface, much easier for people to understand how to add pictures (unlike the method for normal messages which always causes confusion). Listings (with their price) can appear on the front page widget.
Cons: Posting an add requires putting your city and postal code. (don't worry, address isn't required).
Lets see how she does
Cheers guys!

Pink Flamingos are up! The reason you didn't see it after you posted is that it's currently set in such a way that I have to hit "approve" on the add before it shows for you guys. I have no interest in doing this long-term if we keep this system, so am planning to get in touch with forumotion this week to see how to disable the function. I'll let them know about the mischievous button at the same time.
