What are we doing today?
Just thought that I would jump in and get this forum moving.
So what are you plans for today?
Working on the car?
Doing something else?
Anybody watching or into Nascar racing?
Sprint Cup is in Sonoma this weekend. It is only 50-60 miles from me. I am not going because I have been there too many times and it is going to be hotter then he!! out there this weekend.
Everybody have a good weekend.

Re: What are we doing today?
Hmm, as for me, I got to sleep in this morning for once, then painted the starter, damper and starter solenoid that i'll be putting on my car shortly. Now I'm gonna drive downtown, grab a bite to eat and attend a conference until 10pm.
Re: What are we doing today?
I wish I could work on the Healey! I've got way too many irons in the fire right now. Looks like it'll be sometime in July before I can get on it.
As for what I did today, I had to go to work.

Dialed in my bellhousing last week (82 Chevy 350) only to find it out of spec by .44"
No offset dowel pins will correct that so I found a new aluminum BH from Classic Industries at a decent price. Hope to have it here next week. If she spec's out OK then it's on to installing the new 10.5 clutch and the T5.
The highly modified top frame is mounted to the car minus the header bow. Still working on fitting a curved windshield frame to her. If successful I will fabricate a header to fit it. If that all goes well I will begin the modifications to the fiberglass deck aft of the seats, to accept the top.

Paul,
Looking at the bottom of your post, do you work for Classis Industries or was that supposed to be a link to your bell housing?
I don't think that I could work for a place like that. I would never get an actual paycheck. My pay would probably be in parts .

After tightening down my valve covers that were leaking badly I took my pup for his first ride in the shotgun seat.......he loved it except for the loud exhaust so I took it easy!!!

Terry,
Not sure why that appeared on my post but that is where I ordered my BH from. Once I see it I will try to secure a clutch fork and pivot ball for it. Hope to be reinstalling the drive before the end of July.

Re: What are we doing today?
Paul,
How much HP are you running? A standard T-5 is only rated for less than 300 HP. The WC T-5 rates higher, but not much.
Although My CR-427 was running 352 HP & 414 TQ. The WC T-5 held up fine and I was not easy on it.

HP/T5
Terry,
Well I do not actually know the HP. I am running a 1982 GMC truck 350. Best I can research it only put out 165HP stock. Any original smog equipment is gone, She has an Edelbrock Thunder series 650 sitting on a Performer 2101 intake. May have some form of mild cam but there is no docs for it. It all spills out into the expected big headers and pipes. All this gets me to perhaps 200 HP?? Regardless the T5 should handle it well as I am a spirited driver but not one who re-beta tests the drivetrain with each shift (got that out of my system when I was younger).
Hope to reestablish the driveline in the next month or so if I can identify the remaining parts required (which clutch fork and pivot ball, fabricate a transverse transmission mount that will accommodate the 17 degree clocked T5 pad which will now be at 12:00 due to the bellhousing bolt pattern, bend the shifter straight as well).
Once successful it is on to diagnosing why the steering does not self center out of a turn (possible worn rack), why it dives when breaking hard ( possible worn shocks) and if it is possible to soften the ride (possible springs).
Lots to do but I was looking for a hobby project and so far this Healey has been easy to work on.

Re: What are we doing today?
I had a T-5Z in my Cobra replica and it lived 9 years behind a 408W Stroker....around 500 HP and never a hic-up!!
Your rear tires will lose traction long before you reach enough torque to break even a weaker T-5!!
Drive on with no worries!!
