unknown kit
Hi, I just bought an Austin Healey kit car. I don't know anything about it. Is there a makers mark or serial number someplace or manufacture tags? How many companies made or currently make these?

I don't know any company currently making AH replica kits.
On the index page of your assembly manual will be date of printing.
Look around master cylinder for Classic Roadster tag.
You need good info to get tags in your state.
Post some pictures. Good help here.

Re: unknown kit
Welcome J (?) would be helpful to post your name.
There was only one major maker of these and it was Classic Roadsters. ONLY factory assembled cars had a tag. Mine, and the half dozen I've seen in my area, were all home built and have no tags. There are no identifying markings of any kind. State registration laws very. I simply stamped the MSO number on my frame and was able to use that as a serial number.
If you add your location to your profile, someone might be near by and could assist.
As Loren says, if you received any manuals they will tell a lot. If not, why not ask the seller ?
More sugestions available if you were to offer more details. Where and how did you get it ? What does title say ? Do you have any specific questions ?
Pictures might help, or go to the Gallery and pick one that matches.
Keep us posted.

Healey Factory in Port Charlotte Florida made their version for a few years. Different frame, different (but similar) body.

Re: unknown kit
I found out it is a Sebring kit. I need a top and frame. Does anyone know where to get one? Will a stock Healey fit? Thanks James.

Re: unknown kit
Stock Healey top will not fit. The Sebring is actually about 3" wider than a stock Healey. Very few Healey parts will fit and the ones that do are things like badges, trunk hinges and truck handles.
The top frame is made with parts that are for marine applications. If you live near a coast, there should be companies that can form the tubing parts you need and supply the fittings. They might even be able to sew a new top. The tops are similar in construction to a Jeep top, attaching pretty much the same way.
The parts are available from marine suppliers online, too. I believe the tubing is 7/8" aluminum. It may be 1/2" aluminum conduit, which would be cheaper. Conduit is very close to 7/8" OD. There may be some patterns available on this site. I recall someone was supposed to measure theirs. Mine is in storage right now.

Re: unknown kit
Hi James and Hotrod,
That would be me. I have measured it and have photos.
Just need to do the necessary drawing to show it all.
I refuse to have the required extra site needed to post photos.
I plan on sending it to Saxmann and Chief as they were who originally brought his up. Maybe one of you can post it here for future reference.
Should be able to get to it this year. Only 6 days left, so I gotta hurry.

Jerry, shoot me a private message for my email address and I'll add them to my hosting site and post them so that they can be available to everyone. Seems to be a lot of folks that need top frames.

Re: unknown kit
I was recently able to purchase all the hardware to create a new top frame so I can confirm that it is all available.
