Inside door Escutcheons Empty Inside door Escutcheons

I had purchased 2 of these inside door pull Escutcheons (OER-K482) From Summit and tried installing them today. They have too tall of an edge and even after modifying them the hole for the screw is in the wrong place. Now I cannot return them as I have modified them. I am finding all the salvage yards around do NOT have any Chevette's. Does any one know where I can get the correct parts for a 4 door?? Thank you.

I'm very very far from 100% sure on this, but based on a hunch... try and look at some 1978-1982 Buick Sedans or GMC pickups of the same year range. Might depend on the model for the buicks. Again, this is from a quick google search, so best of luck...

Thanks for your quick reply David. The ones I had purchased were for Camaro's. I will look into these as well. I also have feelers out to Summit and OER as well as the Chevette forum. I will keep everyone posted as to what I find.

No problem Du!

The reasoning was that these cars use the same exterior door handle in many cases, so why not the same interior one.

I think the Camaro ones you were looking at also came on Corvettes because I saw some corvette ones of the same year that looked the same while I was browsing.

So a friend on mine (real one - not the imaginary one) noticed I did not have these on my car. He said to look at his Mustang. They looked about perfect, so I ordered a set and with very little dremel work installed in minutes. Also come in chrome.

Door escutcheons update -
I ordered new ones from Jegs that looked to be not as tall as the others and I was right. But they are about 1/4 inch taller than the originals. I did make them work buy modifying the handle opening by about 1/8 of an inch lower. I was able to do this with a round file and a flat file which I feel will work just fine.

I guess when I installed the new door pulls they ended up further forward. I might address this another day when it gets warmer but works OK for now. The ones I bought from JEGs are as follows.

Hopefully this helps others.

Hmmm... I never noticed before that my inner door handles look nothing like that scratch

After a quick look online, mine can't be chevette ones. My outer door handles are the standard chevette, but the inner ones are completely different. How strange scratch

Nice job on yours jim! Lookin good on that pale grey interior Wink

Thanks, took a lot of searching and had purchased the wrong ones before. These are much better.
