Hot Rod or Replica? That 100 though!

Post by David V. on Tue Dec 09, 2014 9:41 pm

Was browsing the wonderful world-wide web when I came across this oh so sexy 100 Shocked  The question is.... is it a modified original or is it a replica? scratch   The quad Tail-lights are similar to the Haldane Healey's but the overall shape seems too pure. The lack of door-handles, right hand drive, and dual gas fillers are throwing me off. Must have an engine swap judging by the very large radiator. Those Borrani Wheels are drop-dead gorgeous to say the least.

What do you guys think?

I don't know if it's original or not, but I like it!

It appears it might have an aluminum radiator.  I don't think the factory works cars were finished that nice, either. I agree the wires look fantastic.

It could be one of the British Sebrings. The badge in front of the hood looks like it might be one of theirs.

Funny that you should post this, I have been thinking of rebuilding my car in a similar style.

Hey guy's

NSW on the plate stands for New South Wales and it is at a place called the rocks, an old place on sydney harbour about 1 mile from sydney CBD (very upmarket area)

It's from my home city, its unlikley to be a hot rod as our regulations are so difficult.
Most likley a modified original car as you can get away with a lot more when doing that

Looks very nice though

passed an original Healey on the motorway last week in average condition, first one i have seen on the road, i notice old cars as i have a passion for them.

Hi,
note that the 100 series did not have external door handles, and although the louvered bonnet was a feature of the 100 M it was available as a modification to non-M cars. (per "Original Austin-Healey" restorers guide - Anders. D. Clausager)
