griffin radiator Empty griffin radiator

Post by archngl Sun Aug 10, 2014 3:53 pm

I have a Sebring MX, built in 1990 with the Classic Roadster radiator and now a Spal 16" puller fan.  I've noticed some of you have installed the Griffin all aluminum radiator, two or four row and have had great benefits with this radiator and fan installation as far as cooling.  My question is for those who have the Griffin radiator, did you order it from griffin or from some other source such as Summit or Jegs or?.  If ordered from Griffin is there a specific order number that fits the MX on file at Griffin so that I could call them and order it by number?  As of now, Griffin wants me to measure and draw  what I have now and send it to them so they can match my specs.  Griffin also sells the Spal puller fan the I already have so I could mount it to the new radiator with a matching shroud.  Any and all help is appreciated and thank-you for this site and help.

I have a Griffin 2-row, it's a universal fit 24''X19''X3'', it's not specific to MX though, so I had to fab some brackets. But whatever you get I recommend ordering straight from Griffin, Summit has lower prices but often radiators are back-order, so if you show Griffin the Summit price they will match it in my experience.

Get it right from Griffin. They have a spec sheet for our car, but you may have to remind the sales person and get them to look it up!!

I am also in the market, as I can't quite seem to get my coolant temp under control. I've been looking at the CU-59202-1 combo, which has a shroud and twin 12" SPAL fans. Barnett Performance has them for a good price, and say they will drop ship them directly from Griffin in a couple of days (none in stock).

EDIT: It appears that the fan is really a single SPAL 16".

Numbers under my Griffin bar code are KC-2194190. It is a 2 core and I'm not happy with summertime cooling. At 70mph and 2500rpm must run electric fan full time for 185. When ambient temp cools to 60 all is fine. Thinking cooling system is too small. My 2 cents Loren

griffin radiator Empty Griffin part number

Post by dave.amos.1955 Fri Aug 15, 2014 11:25 am

My spec sheet is sort of hard to read, but it shows Griffin part number 9D-06145-03 dated on 9/13/01. There is a hand-written number on it as well - 9D-1602403. It also has "Classic Roadsters II" written on the bottom of the page.
Note - there is no filler built into this part. We also had to get an in-line filler to put in the upper hose, which has worked fine.
I ordered mine directly from Griffin over the phone in the 4/23/12 timeframe.
Good luck!

Thanks to all of you guys! Your response has given me much needed info for the radiator. It's nice to have this site where all of the info is condensed into the specific topics for easier finding and retention. I'll keep you posted with my findings.
