Turn Signal Wiring: Is the manual correct? Empty Turn Signal Wiring: Is the manual correct?

Post by icecoldmn Mon May 09, 2022 9:50 am

I just posted in the new member column. See New Member from Minnesota.

Do the Classic Roadsters manual occasionally have mistakes?

From the Rear Main Harness (SF3) we are hooking up the Left and Right turn signals to the Steering Column Harness (1000521).

If you look at the red and purple arrows in image A (SF3), you'll see the wire colors are Green/Black and White/Black.

Looking at Image B (Steering Column Harness), the instructions say to hook SF3 to Blue/Black and Red/Blue, while they say to hook up SD12 Dash to Green/Black and White/Black.

Now they are all for the turn signals, but I can't imagine we are supposed to hook up different color wires to each other.

Thank you.

That's interesting that your wiring diagrams are different than what came with my Sebring. I don't have "SF8", "SD12", "1000521", etc. My manual is the same as posted in the Forum's Database - "Complete Owner's Manual". I'd first try plugging into matching colored wires; you can always unplug and replug to different wires later, if the lights don't work.

Confusing wire callouts is just one reason (plus, in my case previous owners hacked up the wiring pretty badly over the years) I pulled out my CR Factory wiring harness and completely re-wired my Sebring with a new, modern, streetrod harness.

Agree with AH, new wire harness is a real good idea if you have the old glass fuses. Also add relays for headlamp and any other high amp items you might add, (big amp, A/C etc) After researching wire harness a few years ago, i got mine from Ron Francis. The deciding factor was their insulation on all the wires. Much higher quality, more rodent resistant and thinner. They also have a grounding kit for fiberglass cars. You can even get a real catalogue delivered to you. I got 5 catalogues for friends in our old car club. People that really know their stuff actually answer the phone.
